text: One of my most important experiences at Dasarts was the opportunity to explore an idea that had been on my mind for a number of years. A lot of students who attend Dasarts tend to start out with a perception of what they would like to do and wound up leaving doing something else completely different.

Perhaps when I came in Dasarts to do a theatre project on Marvin Gaye, I never thought that it would be so much more about me and how he made me feel. I never thought that I could make a production that was about my life and hold an audience attention with my own thoughts, perceptions, notions and life experiences. And yet, I had relearned an important basic element about theatre that I almost forgot...isnít that what theatre is about: Life experiences and situations that occur in our human circles every single day that we live.

I think I will always look at Dasarts and my time there as a blessing in which I was able to rediscover aspects of theatre that I needed to refreshing, redefine and discover what was new in my creative development.

Itís a fortunate thing to have an ability to tell people things that are important to you in an interesting and engaging way that they want to follow you to the very end of your story. Dasarts reminded me that I have this ability and that I should never once take it for granted.
